In a move to bolster healthcare initiatives, the Department of Management (DBM) has greenlit the release of PHP8.005 billion to support vital programs of the Department of Health (DOH). This significant allocation underscores the government's unwavering commitment to enhancing public health services and ensuring the well-being of all Filipinos.

The approved budget will be channeled towards two pivotal areas: Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially-Incapacitated Patients (MAIP) and Public Health Emergency Benefits and Allowances (PHEBA) for both healthcare and non-healthcare workers.

Empowering Indigent Patients: MAIP

With an allocation of PHP2.439 billion, the MAIP initiative aims to provide essential medical support to indigent and financially vulnerable individuals. This encompasses a comprehensive range of services, including in-patient and out-patient care, emergency services, medication, and professional fees. By extending a helping hand to those in need, the government underscores its commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.

Supporting Healthcare Heroes: PHEBA

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of healthcare workers, the PHP5.566 billion allocation for PHEBA is a testament to the government's appreciation and support for their tireless efforts, especially amid challenging times. Encompassing a range of benefits such as Health Emergency Allowance (HEA), Special Risk Allowance (SRA), Covid-19 Sickness and Death Compensation, as well as supplementary provisions for meals, accommodation, and transportation, PHEBA aims to safeguard the well-being and morale of those at the forefront of the nation's healthcare system.

Commitment to Public Health

Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman's swift approval of the Notice of Cash Allocation (NCA) reflects the government's proactive stance in prioritizing public health initiatives. Pangandaman's affirmation of continued support for programs aimed at uplifting the welfare of fellow Filipinos resonates with the overarching mission to foster a healthier, more resilient nation.

A Clear Presidential Mandate

The directive from President Bongbong Marcos underscores the administration's unequivocal commitment to prioritizing healthcare. By ensuring adequate resources for patient care and healthcare workers' well-being, the government reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding the health and safety of every Filipino citizen.
