Negros Occidental's Victorias City–alongside Pasig City,--will host the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup 2025, which will take place from November 21 to December 7.
The inaugural World Cup will take place at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig and the Victorias City Coliseum, as approved by FIFA.
Getting the upper hand from more famous venues
The SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay and the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City have to be disqualified because of name rights issues, according to John Gutierrez, president of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
The University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City, a well-known football hotspot, was another venue under consideration; however, the court's measurements did not match FIFA's suggested dimensions.
Cebu City as a whole was excluded due to the lack of certainty surrounding the completion date of the SM Seaside City Arena project.
Preparing for the biggest FIFA event in the country
One of the top football and futsal hubs in the Philippines is Negros Island, which is especially well-known for its fervent football culture.
With the help of a network of neighborhood groups, educational institutions, and grassroots initiatives, the region has produced many talented athletes and has a strong passion for the game.
Football on Negros has a long history, as seen by its competitive leagues and successful teams, such as United City, formerly Ceres-Negros FC, which has played for the island in national competitions.
