The Negros Occidental provincial government will participate in a research trial on dairy production using the Milk-T Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology developed by the Korea-based software engineering firm, ThinkforBL.
The initiative was formalized when Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and ThinkforBL Chief Executive Officer Ji Hwan Park signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the Provincial Capitol in front of Provincial Veterinarian Placeda Lemana and In Hwan Shin, the regional president of the United Korean Community Association in the Philippines for Bacolod.
The Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm (PLBCDF) in Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City will host the four-month trial to determine and improve the AI technology's suitability for Philippine farming conditions and dairy production practices.
Additionally, it will determine which dairy farm's production efficiency needs to be raised to utilize Milk-T AI technology.
How it will go down
ThinkforBL will establish a demonstration and communication area at the dairy farm, with internet connectivity for sensors and camera or for image data collection systems.
The system will create a plan to gather data on individual dairy cows utilizing sensors with cameras attached to them to construct a data-collecting strategy.
ThinkforBL will periodically gather and examine data, either under the predetermined data acquisition plan or otherwise. The results will then be communicated to the province, together with conclusions and suggestions.
The provincial government will permit the study's employment of cows in the milking line and will supply staff support for the planning, execution, and data gathering of the trial.
The trial's outcomes and the data gathered are solely owned by ThinkforBL and the province.
PLBCDF’s adaptation of technology
The PLBCDF, the province's dairy production and processing plant, was founded in 2001 to meet the nutritional and financial demands of the Negrenses.
This time, it stimulates more production through this research involvement.
In its Gawad Dairy Awards, the National Dairy Authority named PLBCDF as one of the nation's exceptional dairy farms in 2019.
It was also one of the Philippine dairy farms that followed the Food Safety Act to guarantee the production of high-quality, safe milk.
