Nestled in the waters of the Sibuyan Sea, Carabao Island in Romblon is a jewel in the Visayas, providing visitors with a refuge of natural beauty, peace, and a rich cultural legacy.

The island's landscape is characterized by rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and secluded coves, creating a picture-perfect setting for those seeking a connection with the natural world.

Beaches’ bliss

Carabao Island is famous for its breathtaking beaches, each with a distinct charm. The most visited beach on the island, Hambil Beach, enthralls tourists with its white sand and glistening waves. The surrounding coconut groves offer shade for those looking for relief from the sun, and the shoreline's moderate slope makes it a perfect place to swim and unwind.

Enticing blue seas and a lengthy stretch of fine white sand make Lanas Beach, located on the island's northern edge, a hidden treasure. For people who want the calming sounds of the sea, the beach is still relatively unexplored and offers a tranquil getaway.

Located on the eastern side of the island, Binucot Beach offers serene surroundings and equally white sands. Rich greenery envelops the beach, providing an environment for those seeking a more private place to relax.

For thrill-seekers

For those seeking adventure and panoramic views, Carabao Island offers an ascent to Mount Tagaytay. The hike to the summit rewards explorers with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding seascape and neighboring islands in the Visayas archipelago.

The mountain range offers spots to observe the interplay between the sun and the waters, producing a show of hues at sunrise and dusk.

With all these natural gifts, Carabao Island is adopting sustainable practices and eco-tourism to protect its natural treasures for future generations.

Ocean conservation, garbage management, and biodiversity preservation are among the community-led projects centered on responsible tourism on the island.

Tourists are encouraged to participate in these programs, as they promote conservation efforts and benefit the island's ecosystem.

How to get there

From Caticlan airport, ride a tricycle to Tabon Baybay Port. From there, ride a passenger boat to Carabao Island, which usually takes two to three hours.

From Romblon Island, the least expensive option would be to take a passenger ferry to San Agustin. One can ride a jeep from San Agustin to Santa Fe, where tourists can get a passenger boat to the island. The entire trip takes about five hours
