There’s a special kind of pride that swells when you see your homeland being recognized among the world’s best. For Filipino travelers and wanderers at heart, that feeling came in waves as the Philippines once again made a splash at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia and Oceania Gala 2025, clinching six major titles.
For the 7th consecutive year, the country was named Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and for the 8th time, Asia’s Leading Beach Destination—proof that the Philippines’ 7,000+ islands never lose their charm. From the turquoise waters of Palawan to the powdery shores of Boracay, each stretch of sand tells a story that captivates both local and foreign travelers. The Philippines also secured the coveted title of Asia’s Leading Island Destination, completing a trifecta of tropical triumphs.
World-Class Destinations, World-Class People
The accolades didn’t stop there as Boracay once again proved its world-class allure, taking home Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, while Clark Freeport Zone emerged as Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Destination, showcasing how the country is fast becoming a hub for both business and leisure.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) added another feather to its cap, earning the distinction of Asia’s Leading Tourist Board—a recognition that, according to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, celebrates not only the destinations but also the people behind every journey: “the guides, hospitality workers, weavers, boatmen, and countless others whose warmth and resilience define Filipino hospitality.”
Creativity on the Global Stage
Adding to the momentum, the Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka also took home the Silver Award for Exhibition Design, praised for its creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Soon, key elements from this celebrated pavilion will find new life at the National Museum of the Philippines and the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Cebu in 2026.
