The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) Region IV-A and Calamba Medical Center (CMC) have formalized an expanded partnership covering selected Z Benefit packages for qualified patients. The Memorandum of Agreement includes coverage for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery, peritoneal dialysis, and hearing impairment services for children aged 0 to 17 years. The agreement was signed by PhilHealth Region IV-A Regional Vice President Dr. Edwin Oriña and CMC President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Pilar Nenuca P. Almira.

Heart Surgery and Dialysis Coverage Includes Treatment Support
Under the enhanced CABG Z Benefit, eligible patients may receive coverage of up to P660,000 for standard-risk cases and up to P960,000 for expanded or high-risk cases with co-morbidities.
The package extends beyond the operation itself, covering post-surgery care, up to six cardiac rehabilitation sessions, medicines, and specified laboratory and diagnostic services. These provisions are intended to support patients through different stages of treatment and recovery.
For people with kidney failure, PhilHealth’s Peritoneal Dialysis Z Benefit supports a treatment that can be carried out at home. The procedure uses the peritoneum, or lining of the abdomen, as a natural filter to remove waste and excess fluid from the blood.
Annual coverage under the enhanced benefit can reach P510,140 for adult continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, depending on the prescribed treatment. Included services are catheter insertion and initiation, infection prevention, peritonitis treatment, and laboratory diagnostics.
Children’s Hearing Services Also Included in Agreement
The partnership also covers qualified children through PhilHealth’s Z Benefit for Children with Hearing Impairment. Applicable services include assessment, hearing aids, and habilitation, providing support for children who need specialized hearing care.
PhilHealth Region IV-A and CMC said the agreement aims to widen access to specialized treatment while reducing the financial pressure on patients and their families.
CMC said the partnership supports its vision of being the “hospital of choice in CALABARZON” and its brand promise, “Kalingang may Husay at Puso.”
The agreement highlights how health coverage and hospital partnerships can affect whether families are able to pursue necessary treatment without facing overwhelming costs. For patients dealing with major surgery, long-term dialysis, or childhood hearing impairment, the reach of these benefits will matter in turning medical support into care they can realistically access.
