The Philippines is making waves on the international travel scene once again, earning nominations in three major categories at the 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, one of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed travel recognitions.
In an announcement shared Monday, July 14, the Department of Tourism (DOT) revealed that the country has been nominated for “Most Desirable Country (Worldwide),” while Cebu and Palawan have earned spots in the “Most Desirable Region” and “Most Desirable Island” categories, respectively.
These nominations come from Wanderlust, the UK’s longest-running travel magazine, and reflect a global appreciation for the Philippines’ diverse attractions—from idyllic beaches and marine sanctuaries to centuries-old cultural sites and vibrant regional identities.
More Than Just Beaches
Beyond the headline categories, the Philippines is also eligible for honors in various subcategories, including Culture and Heritage, Nature and Wildlife, Adventure, Gastronomy, and Sustainability. These recognitions highlight the country’s all-around appeal—not only as a beach destination, but also as a culturally rich, eco-diverse, and experience-driven nation.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco welcomed the news, noting that these nominations validate the efforts to promote the Philippines as a top-tier destination. “These honors reflect the natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and genuine warmth of the Filipino people,” she said.
Call to Vote: Show Love for the Philippines
With voting now open to the public, Secretary Frasco encouraged Filipinos and international supporters to back the country by casting their votes at wanderlusttravelawards.com. The voting period runs until October 27, 2025, and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 5, 2025, at the National Gallery in London.
“I would personally like to call on once again our fellow Filipinos, as well as our foreign friends, to show love for the Philippines by choosing it in the upcoming 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards,” she said.
