he Department of Health (DOH) announced that Filipinos can now check the prices of medicines—including generic options—through the eGovPH app. This new feature is part of the government’s push to improve access to affordable, quality healthcare, as required by the Universal Health Care Law.

According to the DOH, the feature helps users make informed decisions about their purchases while promoting price transparency across pharmacies and providers. Still, the agency reminded the public to always follow their doctor’s prescriptions and take maintenance medication regularly to properly manage health conditions.

One-Stop App for Government Services

The eGovPH app, launched in 2023, was designed to bring multiple government services under one platform—making transactions easier, faster, and less prone to corruption.

At its launch in Malacañang, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the app reduces human intervention in government processes.

“You do not have to talk to a person at all, for the entire process. There's no discretion being exercised at any point. It's either yes or no. It's binary,” Marcos said, highlighting how the app minimizes red tape.

Aside from checking medicine prices, the app also allows users to register SIM cards, apply for permits, and report online scams—all in one place.

Bringing Healthcare Closer to Home

With the addition of the medicine price list, the eGovPH app strengthens its role in supporting everyday health needs. It gives patients—especially those on long-term treatment—easier access to cost information and alternatives, helping them stay on track with their care without breaking the bank.

This is part of the broader goal of digital governance: making essential services like healthcare more accessible and efficient, no matter where you are in the country.

The DOH continues to encourage the public to explore the app and take advantage of its growing list of services.
