A group of doctors and experts has developed AGAP.AI, an innovative app designed to help parents monitor their children’s development and detect early signs of conditions like autism. For parents like Analia Carreon, the app comes as a timely solution after relying on online videos to track concerns about her child.
"At the age of one and a half years old, may mga na-detect na kaming signs or red flags of autism. My husband and I decided to have an assessment with a developmental pediatrician," she said. However, the wait for a specialist took four months—a critical period for early intervention.
Making Early Detection Accessible
Dr. Ebner Maceda, Chief Medical Officer of AGAP.AI, highlighted the limited availability of specialists. "Very limited din po ang mga specialists natin, so mahirap din silang hanapin." Dr. Ma-am Joy Tumulak, Chief Health Development Officer, emphasized the importance of acting early: "Kapag maaga mong natutuklasan 'yung mga delays at nakagawa ka ng early intervention, mas maganda 'yung nagiging outcome ng mga kondisyon na ito kasi naaagapan."
The AGAP.AI app allows parents to record and track developmental milestones easily. It organizes milestones by age—from zero to two years—and by domain: social, communication, cognitive, and physical. Parents can also access detailed explanations, try activities at home, and identify early warning signs objectively.
"Kapag nire-review mo 'yung developmental milestones, umaasa lang sa recall ng parents. Pero sa app na ito, may listahan na sila. Mas objective at mas napapadali ang monitoring ng mga doctors," said Dr. Maceda.
AI Support and Connection to Specialists
AGAP.AI also lets parents upload photos and videos of their children, which AI processes to summarize potential developmental delays. The app goes further by connecting parents to doctors and therapy centers, allowing interventions to begin even while waiting for appointments.
"Ikukonekta din namin 'yung mga parents sa doctors at therapy centers. Habang naghihintay ng doctor's appointment, the moment you detect there is delay, you already start the intervention," said AGAP.AI Chief Executive Reynand Jay Canoy.
With AGAP.AI, parents can monitor their child’s growth, spot developmental concerns early, and take action sooner, making early intervention more accessible than ever.
