Sparking buzz in the industry and among fans, Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo reign supreme as the box office king and queen of 2024.
The awards were given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), Inc. at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Despite being co-stars of a blockbuster movie, the two received their awards individually.
Individual success
Alden Richards took home the Box Office King honor after starring alongside Julia Montes in the movie "Five Breakups and A Romance."
Kathryn Bernardo, meanwhile, took home the Box Office Queen award for her most recent movie, "A Very Good Girl," in which she co-starred with Dolly De Leon, who also recently gained attention with her performances in Hollywood.
Alden and Kathryn starred in "Hello, Love, Goodbye" in 2019, considered the highest-grossing Filipino film ever, before Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes' comeback film "Rewind" surpassed the record early in 2024.

When questioned about the true status of his relationship with Kathryn, Alden recently said that there are some things that one should keep private.
"Whatever is happening between Kath and I, I really want it to be personal," Alden remarked on his current magazine cover, where he spoke up about being paired with Kathryn after their several sightings together in recent months.
In an earlier statement, Alden discussed his relationship with Kathryn and stated that what you see is what you get.
