Ang Bandang Shirley, a Filipino pop-rock band, declared their dissolution on their official Facebook page. This followed concerns about their co-member Emmanuel (Ean) Aguila's grooming and sexual misbehavior.
In a series of January Instagram Stories, Aguila's ex-partner accused him of grooming.
End of the band
Members of Ang Bandang Shirley, Kathy Gener, Paolo Arciga, Miggy Abesamis, and Debb Acebu, also expressed their opinions against Ean on the aforementioned matters.
“We have decided not to continue as a band. This is the end for Ang Bandang Shirley. We thank you for all your support and for listening to our music throughout the years,” said Ang Bandang Shirley.
While Aguila chose to leave the group, the other members of the group chose to split up because of the problems.
The band said that Aguila’s issues affected the band.
“This January, past allegations towards Ean resurfaced with new information, which has significantly affected the band and the members. Let it be known that we strongly do not condone his behavior, and we urged him to take full responsibility for his actions,” the band said.
Band’s legacy
Beginning in the OPM industry in 2003, Ang Bandang Shirley is well-known for their songs "Nakauwi Na," "Umaapaw," "Siberia," and numerous others.
The group has put out three complete albums over the course of their decades-long existence: "Themesongs" in 2008, "Tama Na Ang Drama" in 2012, and "Favorite" in 2017.
