Willie Revillame Makes Comeback With New Game Show ‘Wilyonaryo’

Veteran television host, Willie Revillame, returns to the entertainment scene with new game show ‘Wilyonaryo,' a digital-first platform. After months of keeping a low profile, Revillame confirmed that his latest program will premiere online on January 25, signaling a fresh chapter in his long-running career.

The 64-year-old host formally announced the project during a media conference held at a Quezon City hotel, where he explained that the show was initially planned for free-to-air television. However, changes within TV5’s leadership prompted a shift in strategy, leading the production team to prioritize an online launch while discussions for a television broadcast continue.

Online Debut Amid TV5 Leadership Changes

Revillame acknowledged that the transition in management at TV5 played a key role in the delay of the show’s television rollout, noting that the new leadership needed time to reassess the program’s concept.

“I understand that the new management needs to review the concept again,” Revillame said in Filipino, expressing optimism that talks remain ongoing. “But we’re still in talks, so we’re hopeful the show can air on television at the same time.”

He later clarified that “Wilyonaryo” will instead stream on its official website while broadcast plans remain under review. Revillame cited the complexity of the show’s mechanics, particularly its raffle-based format involving ticket purchases, as a challenge for free TV.

“Hindi ko itini-take na personal. Naiintindihan ko ’yun. Kasi mahirap talaga ’yung live streaming ka sa free TV kasi may gaming, e,” the host explained, referring to regulatory concerns surrounding gaming content.

Despite this, Revillame emphasized that the program has secured the necessary clearance from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), confirming that all required procedures were followed to ensure compliance.

Purpose-Driven Return and Public Service Outside Politics

Beyond entertainment, Revillame framed his comeback as an extension of the same mission that defined his earlier shows, which centered on audience participation and financial assistance. Under the “Wilyonaryo” format, ticket buyers have a chance to win up to P1 million, with purchase details posted on www.wilyonaryo.com

“Whoever I am today and whatever I’ve achieved is because of the people,” he said, reflecting on his motivations. “That’s why I’m doing this. I want to help, because so many Filipinos are struggling right now.”

The host also addressed his failed Senate bid in the last national elections, saying the experience reinforced his belief that service does not require public office.

“I can help people better outside government,” Revillame said, adding that the show allows him to continue assisting Filipinos in a more direct way.

For many viewers, Revillame’s return highlights how digital platforms are reshaping access to entertainment and opportunities for everyday Filipinos. As rising costs continue to strain households, shows like “Wilyonaryo” tap into a familiar format that blends entertainment with the hope of financial relief, underscoring the enduring appeal of game shows in the country’s media landscape.
