PLDT, Smart to Combine Rewards Programs on One Platform

PLDT Inc. and its wireless arm Smart Communications Inc. are combining their customer rewards programs into one platform, built with loyalty software company Capillary Technologies.

The new platform will bring together the PLDT Home, Smart and Ka-Partner programs, the companies said in a joint announcement on Monday, Oct. 5. The announcement appeared in Bilyonaryo and Daily Tribune and as sponsored content in Inquirer.net’s BrandRoom. The companies said the system will use AI and personalization to tailor rewards and offers to each user. It will be rolled out in phases over the next year.

Which Programs Are Involved?

  • PLDT Home. Home broadband subscribers earn “Crystals” under PLDT Home Rewards. According to PLDT Home’s website, the rewards portal has been offline since April 1, 2026 for a system upgrade. Subscribers keep earning Crystals in the meantime, and unused Crystals will carry over to the “new and improved” PLDT Home Rewards and stay valid until April 1, 2027, the site says.
  • Smart. Smart’s help site describes GigaPoints, earned on the Smart App, as its loyalty program. One GigaPoint is worth ?1, and points are open to Smart Prepaid, Postpaid, TNT, Smart Bro and Smart Home WiFi users. The Oct. 5 announcement refers only to “Smart” and does not mention GigaPoints by name.
  • Ka-Partner. This program is for Smart’s retailers and e-load sellers. Its app listing on Google Play says retailers earn points by selling Smart load and can redeem them for items such as e-tickets, food, load credits and bill rebates.

What PLDT and Smart Said

“Customer loyalty is key to the PLDT Group’s long-term growth,” PLDT chief operating officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr. said. He described the move as an investment in “stronger customer retention.”

PLDT Home head John Palanca said subscribers and partners would get “exclusive perks, curated offers, exciting partner benefits, and rewarding experiences tailored to their preferences.”

Lloyd Manaloto, Smart’s officer-in-charge, said the platform would also reward “the Smart retailers and e-load partners who help us serve millions of Filipinos every day.” He said bringing the two brands onto one system lays “the foundation for more seamless, converged rewards and experiences in the future.”

Who Is Capillary?

Capillary Technologies is based in Bengaluru, India, and listed on India’s BSE and NSE stock exchanges in November 2025, according to Moneycontrol. On its investor relations page, the company says it serves 393 brands in 46 countries.

“Together, we look forward to building a more intelligent, engaging, and connected loyalty experience for millions of subscribers,” said Santosh Reddy, Capillary’s president for Asia-Pacific.

What We Still Don’t Know

The announcement leaves several questions open for subscribers:

  • Points. It doesn’t say whether Crystals, GigaPoints and Ka-Partner points will be merged into one balance or converted.
  • Link to PLDT Home’s upgrade. Neither the announcement nor PLDT Home’s website says whether the rewards upgrade under way since April is part of this Capillary rollout.
  • Dates. No launch date was given for any phase.
  • Cost. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

For now, PLDT’s website says PLDT Home Rewards members with questions can call the 171 hotline.
