A city health office worker was discovered lifeless inside his vehicle in Gingoog, City Misamis Oriental, sustaining multiple stab wounds, and authorities are investigating robbery as a possible motive.
The victim, identified as a 54-year-old administrative officer from the Gingoog City Health Office, was found in his gold Hyundai Starex van along the national highway in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. Police say he suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck.
Investigators also recovered an empty bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle, but his cellphone, bag, and money were missing, suggesting the crime could have been a robbery.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are closely reviewing CCTV footage of the victim’s route, especially the stretch from Claveria to Jasaan, where the van was later abandoned. Meanwhile, police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help identify possible suspects.
A minor suspect (17 years old) has since surrendered, admitting involvement in the crime. He reportedly confessed that the killing happened after what authorities say was a disagreement over money, and that he later abandoned the victim’s vehicle in Jasaan. Police may file robbery with homicide charges against him.
