In Math, students saw an impressive rise from 306 to 340 points, while science scores improved from 318 to 337 points. These findings highlight a positive trajectory in student performance, reflecting the hard work of educators and students alike.
Advancements in the National Achievement Test (NAT)
The positive trend continues with the National Achievement Test (NAT) results for Grade 10 students, which also showcase substantial progress. Director Maria Ines Asuncion noted improvements across several critical skills: problem-solving saw a 43.31 percent increase, while information literacy rose from 41.5 percent to 41.96 percent.
Critical thinking skills also improved, moving from 35.46 percent to 39.61 percent. These results not only meet educational standards but also demonstrate that students are honing essential skills needed for their future endeavors.
Growth in Alternative Learning Opportunities
The commitment to enhancing educational access is further evidenced by the increase in enrollment in the region's Alternative Learning System (ALS).
For the 2023-2024 school year, the Basic Literacy Program welcomed 1,518 learners, up from 1,223 the previous year. This growth highlights the region's dedication to providing equitable learning opportunities for all.
As Asuncion stated, “The mission of DepEd is to provide quality basic education that is equitably accessible to all and to lay the foundation for lifelong learning.”
With a strong network of public and private schools and a passionate teaching workforce, Caraga is on a promising path toward even greater educational achievements.
