Northern Mindanao has secured a noteworthy PHP1.055 billion allocation under the Green, Green, Green Program (GGGP), marking a significant investment in enhancing green spaces and infrastructure across the region. This initiative, led by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), aims to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for residents through accessible and well-maintained public spaces.

Strengthening Sustainable Infrastructure

The PHP1.055 billion allocation under the GGGP will fund the development and enhancement of green open spaces such as parks and plazas in Northern Mindanao. These projects are designed not only to promote active lifestyles but also to ensure ecological balance and enhance the overall urban environment.

Leadership in Sustainability

Local governments in Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte are at the forefront of Northern Mindanao's efforts to prioritize sustainability. By participating in the GGGP, these LGUs demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship and proactive urban planning.

Secretary Amenah Pangandaman of the DBM emphasized the program's broader implications for sustainability and community well-being. "This funding not only supports environmental improvements but also enhances the overall livability of our communities," she stated. The GGGP aligns with the national agenda of creating a sustainable future for all Filipinos, emphasizing the importance of green initiatives in urban planning and development.

Ensuring Lasting Benefits

Guidelines outlined in the 2024 General Appropriations Act ensure transparent and effective use of funds for green space projects. These initiatives are expected to yield lasting benefits, including improved air quality, enhanced recreational opportunities, and strengthened community cohesion. The GGGP not only supports immediate infrastructure needs but also lays the groundwork for long-term environmental resilience and economic prosperity in Northern Mindanao.
