Under the direction of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has pledged to assist with the construction of a docking facility on Lake Sebu.

Frasco stated that, at the request of the local leaders, the DOT would also build its flagship Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in addition to this facility.

Boosting tourism

This development, according to Frasco, is indicative of great cooperation between the government and private tourist partners.

“This is an effort on our part to provide promotional development and tourism development in South Cotabato,” she said in an interview at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.

DOT is actively promoting the Soccsksargen, and in particular Lake Sebu, at the same time that Frasco is highlighting the region's tourism readiness. Frasco made the pledge on Lake Sebu on the fringes of the four-day Philippine Experience Program (PEP): Soccsksargen at the Punta Isla Lake Resort.

Promoting Mindanao

According to Frasco, there is constant cooperation between various security agencies to promote Mindanao "strategically" by pushing for areas that have been designated as "win" zones.

“I can personally attest to the feeling of safety that I have experienced in all my visits to Mindanao. I have been here quite a few times already. Kadadating ko lang din po (I just arrived here) from Davao Oriental, and prior to that, I was in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro,” Frasco said.

“Mindanao is ripe for international and domestic tourism, and the people here are ready to welcome every guest that comes with the love that is so distinct to us Filipinos,” she added.
