The Department of Public Works and Highways in Soccsksargen (DPWH-12) reported that infrastructure projects totaling PHP91.9 million had been completed in the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato in order to improve public safety and convenience in the area.

Communities and agricultural regions are seen to be shielded from flooding brought on by heavy rainfall by the riverbank structure in North Cotabato.

The Sultan Kudarat road project includes pipe culverts for better drainage, kilometer posts for navigation, and solar-powered lamps for enhanced nighttime vision.

Turning over to local officials

A PHP77 million flood control project in Barangay Poblacion, Banisilan, North Cotabato, was handed over to local officials, based on a statement from DPWH-12 Director Basir M. Ibrahim.

According to Ibrahim, this will increase farmers' income and output while reducing the effects of natural calamities.

Ibrahim also declared the completion of a road paving project for PHP14.9 million at Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, which was part of Phase 2 of the Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) construction.

The project tackles the problems caused by the previously muddy and unpaved route, which made it difficult for drivers, farmers, and traders to convey agricultural products to the town center. It runs from Purok Neemtree to Sitio Biao in Barangay Milbuk.

Enhancing accessibility

According to Sultan Kudarat 2nd District Engineer Birog, the infrastructure improves accessibility and economic mobility, enabling local farmers to deliver their products more effectively to distributors and customers in the town center of Palimbang.

The projects were also seen to help local farmers connect with more markets.
