Camiguin, a tiny haven in the Bohol Sea just off Mindanao's coast, is calling out to all seekers of serenity and charm. Despite being the second smallest province in the Philippines, this Island is packed with wonders that will steal your heart away. The island is known as the "island born of fire," where volcanic magic has shaped an awe-inspiring landscape. With seven stunning volcanoes, including the lively Mt. Hibok Hibok, Camiguin boasts hot and cold springs, waterfalls, and rivers—nature's gifts that'll leave you in awe.

Sights and Activities

  1. Camiguin boasts one of the Philippines' best beaches – White Island. Just 1.4 km off Mambajao's northern shore, this scenic sandbar is perfect for picnics and swimming. Surrounded by majestic mountains, these islands are your canvas for Instagram-worthy shots, attracting both local and global adventurers.

  2. Get a glimpse of Camiguin's history at the Sunken Cemetery, a moving memorial to the island's volcanic past. A giant cross, erected in 1982, stands tall, overlooking a vibrant coral reef beneath the waves.

  3. Camiguin has beautiful waterfalls, but not all are easily accessible. The popular Katibawasan Falls, standing at 76 meters, is one of the tallest. Nestled in the forest, it offers a refreshing dip in its small basin. Meanwhile, Tuawasan Falls is a bit smaller and secluded, away from tourist areas. A pleasant 30-minute hike along the river bed takes you there.

  4. Dive into nature's wonders at Sto. Nino Cold Springs for a refreshing swim in clear waters at a comfy 20°C. Seeking warmth? Head to Ardent Hot Springs, where heated pools, courtesy of nearby volcanoes, offer a soothing dip for a very affordable entrance fee.

  5. Camiguin takes pride in its natural havens, like the Timpoong and Hibok-Hibok Natural Monument, a sanctuary preserving a vital watershed and home to unique wildlife. Don't miss the Giant Clam Sanctuary, a marine paradise protecting these incredible creatures.

Easy Journey

Getting to Camiguin is an adventure in itself. While there isn't a direct international airport, travelers can fly to Laguindingan Airport in Cagayan de Oro and take a bus or van to the Balingoan Port. From there, a ferry ride will transport you to Benoni Port in Camiguin. Alternatively, there are domestic flights to Mambajao Airport for a more direct route.
