Manila Zoo Welcomes New Baby Lioness, Isla

The Manila Zoo is delighted to introduce Isla, a baby lioness who has captured hearts with her charm. The announcement was made on the zoo’s Facebook page on Monday, August 19, showcasing endearing photos of Isla being gently carried and warmly greeted by Manila Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna.

The official welcoming ceremony highlighted the significance of Isla’s arrival, with notable attendees including Mayor Lacuna and Roland Marino, Chief and Officer-in-Charge of the Manila Public Recreations Bureau (PRB). Their presence emphasized the zoo’s commitment to expanding its animal collection and enriching the visitor experience.

Community Support and Generous Donation

Isla’s introduction to the zoo is made possible by the generous donation from the Manila Achievers Lions Club, District 301-A3. Members of the Lions Club attended the turnover event, highlighting their crucial role in Isla’s journey to her new home. Their support reflects the strong community backing for the zoo and its mission.

Current Status and Future Plans

Currently, Isla is in the early stages of her development and is receiving dedicated care to ensure her healthy growth. For the time being, she will not be on public display to allow for a smooth acclimatization process in her new environment.
