For Bicolano commuters, improvements to Philippine National Railways (PNR) stations continue to enhance accessibility and guarantee quicker and safer transit.

"We need to inform the public about the risks and dangers associated with rail operations, whether they are residents or merely crossing at railroad intersections. Our goal is to provide sufficient information and education to our community to address these incidents, and moving forward, we are committed to this effort," PNR General Manager Deovanni Miranda said.

New stations

By the end of this year, the Philippine News Railways (PNR) plans to begin train service in the municipalities of Pili, Libmanan, and Lupi in Bicol.

PNR opened a PHP4.9 million station in Pili, Camarines Sur, last month. This station serves the most passengers in the area.

The new station features two restrooms, air-conditioned staff offices, a breastfeeding station, tactile pathways for the blind, and a covered platform that is more than 100 meters long.

A budget has also been set aside for PNR Naga to finish its renovations.

Affordable and accessible

According to Miranda, PNR is now a clean, accessible, and reasonably priced mode of transportation for the general people.

Additionally, he emphasized the role that towns, schools, and local governments have in teaching the people about railway safety.
