The SM Group, the biggest mall developer and operator in the Philippines, will be starting its planned renovations for its malls, beginning with the redevelopment of the iconic Megamall in Mandaluyong City this July.
The new look of SM Megamall will be created by Benoy, the architectural firm behind famous retail projects like Jewel Changi in Singapore and Icon Siam in Thailand.
The new design will take inspiration from a natural oasis of "Crystal Islands," which flows smoothly from the outside to the inside.
Brighter spaces
Shoppers can anticipate more open areas, bigger, brighter passageways, and higher ceilings as the expansion of SM Megamall adds 20,000 square meters of leasable area for dining and retail experiences.
Level 05 will also feature an air-conditioned lush garden with a new technology ETFE roofing system. With its lush vegetation, abundant natural light, soothing ambiance, and water elements, it aims to add an upgraded feel with an integrated indoor green environment.
There will also be more than 1,000 extra parking spaces to accommodate more visitors..
New technology
Modern technology will be featured in SM Megamall's brand-new theaters to enhance the mall’s cinema features.
There will be two director's club theaters, seven theaters overall, and one large-format theater for special event screenings.
