Discover the charm of Quirino as you step into a world adorned with the simplicity and beauty of fossilized flowers. What started as a local interest, Quirino’s fossilized flowers has evolved into a global pleasure, becoming a sanctuary for those in search of something truly captivating.

The art of making fossilized flowers started in 1994, when a number of visionary women in Quirino  --  guided by the Department of Agrarian Reform and then-Governor Junie E. Cua -- learned how to craft these art pieces. This simple seminar sparked a creative trade that now defines Quirino's spirit.

In Barangay Gamis, Saguday, the Fossilized Flower Village stands as a symbol of empowerment. It gives local women a chance to shine as skilled flower makers, showcasing their creations locally and even internationally.

Crafting Nature's Elegance

These charming flowers are crafted from butterfly or alibangbang leaves, which are abundant in Quirino. Dried, bleached, and dyed in various colors, these flowers get their unique touch from twigs sourced from Quirino's mountains.

A Palette of Floral Wonders

From heart-shaped alibangbang leaves, an array of flowers bloom—roses, gumamela, sunflowers, lilies, chrysanthemums, and more. Other leaves, like guyabano, jackfruit, mango, and guava, also find a place in this creative expression. Simple chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and caustic soda add a pop of color to suit different tastes.

Quirino's Living Art

Beyond being pretty decorations, these fossilized flower products reflect the heart and creativity of Quirino's women. Visitors not only take home a lovely keepsake but also support the local women who bring these creations to life.

Global Recognition and Market Expansion

Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism, and the Philippine Information Agency, Quirino's fossilized flowers have reached global markets. Some makers have expanded, sharing the beauty of these creations in Germany and the USA.

As you explore Quirino's enchanting world of fossilized flowers, remember that each delicate creation is more than just a souvenir. It encapsulates the spirit of a community, the dedication of its women, and the simple yet profound beauty of nature.
