Impasugong town in Bukidnon has been known for two things: horses and breathtaking mountains. Its communal ranch has made the rounds on social media and painted a picture for tourism in SOCCSKSARGEN.

Located approximately eight kilometers northeast of the town in Capitan Bayong village, Impasugong is nestled among gently sloping hills and has long been regarded as a haven of tranquility.

Communal Ranch, sometimes referred to as the New Zealand of Mindanao and the subject of numerous well-known local films, is the primary tourism draw of Impasugong. On the ranch, local horse-riding cowboys and cowgirls herd livestock and buffaloes.

The area is full of paths that lead to locations with views of the nearby mountains, gorges, canyons, small lakes, and waterfalls below. Hikers will need to spend the entire day exploring these natural wonders.

Unending greenery

The 643-hectare grassland provides a refuge for both people and animals. In the distance, rich, green fields dotted with well-bred horses and cattle spread out as far as the eye can see.

The property is a wildlife enthusiast's dream come true. For visitors, it is a location where one can bask in nature, take deep breaths, and enjoy life's small pleasures.

Most tourists are drawn to the peaceful and melodious atmosphere created by the sound of chirping birds and rustling leaves.

In addition to the mountain backdrop and wildflowers, the ranch has a heart-shaped lake that is quite intriguing. It is the ideal location for tourists seeking a picturesque scene and for couples looking for a venue to take engagement pictures.

The property is so big that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Ride the horses

Another option for tourists is to try horseback riding, which costs P200 per hour, or to spend P2,000 per day at the Cowboy's Quarter for groups.

The ranch's cowboys are nothing to be concerned about. For decades, the cowboys, also known as "Vaqueros," have been perfecting their craft and transferring their knowledge from generations to generations.

They ensure that the visitors are secure and comfortable while giving riders tidbits on how to ride the horses.

They also ensure that the horse is nourished and watered, as they guide how to treat the horse if it becomes upset.

How to get there

With the Cagayan de Oro-Bukidnon Highway and the mountain routes of Sayre Highway, it takes only 45 minutes to go to Impasugong.

All guests must register at the Tourism Office before they can visit the Communal Ranch and other attractions.

There is a P50 entry fee in addition to a P20 environmental fee. Once registered, tourists can travel for 30 minutes on about a 13-kilometer drive across Sayre Highway and Old Sayre before getting on the dirt road that leads to Communal Ranch.

For overnight stays, Aps Hostel, Cliffside Glamping, Roy's Tulogan, Roty Peaks Ridge Camp and B&E Homestay are tourists' options.

Despite the lack of a mobile phone signal, the exquisite beauty of Impasugong is well worth the trip.
