The provincial government of Bukidnon gave impoverished recipients 67 houses valued at PHP22.5 million.
According to Governor Rogelio Neil Roque, the Don Carlos municipal government, which supplied the lots for the homes, and the provincial administration worked together on the project.
"Providing housing or shelter, especially for the underprivileged, is crucial. First, it addresses the fundamental need for safety and security," he said in a statement.
For economic stability
According to Roque, having a comfortable home helps people pursue career and educational options more successfully, which in turn supports economic stability.
The new village, known as Paglaum Village, was built in Barangay Don Carlos Sur. The project began on December 1, 2021, and it was finished on February 22, 2024.
Those impacted by a June 1 fire were included as recipients of the housing project's benefits.
