IKEA, the massive Swedish home furnishings retailer, has increased its footprint in the Philippines, expanding home deliveries to Davao and Cagayan de Oro.
With the introduction of additional services, including truck delivery, Click & Collect, and assembly services, IKEA-Philippines will now be extending the reach of its online store, IKEA.ph, to key cities in Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.
As the largest retail store in the world, the Swedish home furnishings brand hopes to give Filipinos in Davao and Cagayan de Oro the ability to shop any IKEA product on IKEA.ph, regardless of size or weight, and deliver it directly to their homes via truck.
Environment-friendly modes
In collaboration with Mober, a leader in environmentally friendly logistics services in the Philippines, the company plans to run all its delivery operations entirely on electric cars. going beyond merely using the expansion as a calculated business decision.
A little over 73% of IKEA's merchandise is made sustainably, while 99.5 percent of the wood used to make IKEA items is recycled or certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Integrating Click & Collect in their transactions, IKEA also allows customers to pick up their online orders at convenient times at specific collection stations in the said provinces. There is a flat fee of P590 for Click & Collect.
Meanwhile, the starting parcel delivery price for orders up to a maximum weight of 40 kg and a maximum length of 1.7 meters is P350 for Visayas and Mindanao.
Aligning to company goals
The company's goal of making its products more widely available to a wider range of people aligns with its expansion into regional markets.
The decision was made as IKEA, which has benefited from the thriving Philippine real estate market since its launch in 2021, saw double-digit increase in online orders in 2023.
In addition, IKEA Philippines aspires to enter more Filipino homes with its distinctively fashionable and useful designs through sustainable operations.
