Kidapawan, nestled at the base of the majestic Mt. Apo, is more than just a city; it's a vibrant tapestry of lush orchards and refreshing highland springs. Aptly dubbed the "City of Fruits and Highland Springs," Kidapawan's moniker speaks volumes about its rich agricultural heritage and the abundance of natural wonders it harbors.

Highland Springs

Kidapawan earns the nickname "Highland Springs" due to its elevated location in the Cotabato province, which boasts a cool climate and abundant freshwater springs. These springs are vital for agriculture. It also provides drinking water, and contributes to the city's scenic beauty.

The City of Fruits

Kidapawan is also dubbed the "City of Fruits" due to its abundant orchards and diverse fruit production. The fertile soil and favorable climate of the region provide optimal conditions for cultivating a wide array of fruits, ranging from tropical favorites like durian, pomelo, and mangosteen to more common varieties like bananas and pineapples. This rich agricultural heritage has not only shaped Kidapawan's identity but also contributes significantly to its economy, making it a celebrated destination for fruit enthusiasts.

A Tapestry of Natural Wonders

Mt. Apo

Mount Apo stands as a formidable stratovolcano on the island of Mindanao, Philippines. Rising to an impressive elevation of 2,954 meters (9,692 feet) above sea level, it claims the title of the highest peak in the Philippine Archipelago. Positioned between Davao City and Davao del Sur province in Region XI, and Cotabato province in Region XII, its summit offers commanding views, overlooking Davao City to the northeast, Digos City to the southeast, and Kidapawan City to the west.

Paniqui Cave and Falls

Situated near Kidapawan City, Cotabato, Paniqui Cave and Falls grace Barangay Balabag with their natural splendor. Crystal clear waterfalls cascade into cool springs, forming a serene natural pool enveloped by mountain ridges. This hidden gem also boasts a natural cave, adding an element of intrigue to its allure.

Kansal Falls

Nestled within the vicinity of Kidapawan City, Kansal Falls epitomizes natural beauty. Found in Sitio Lapaan, Barangay Perez, it holds a special place in the hearts of locals for its pristine waters, earning a reputation as the cleanest waterfall in the province. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Kansal Falls serves as a vital water source for the entire city of Kidapawan.

Lake Venado

Resting at the base of Mount Apo lies Lake Venado, an endorheic marvel of tranquility. Second only to the renowned Bulalacao Lake of Mount Tabayoc in splendor, its name derives from the Spanish word "Venado," meaning "deer," a nod to the lake's deer-like shape. Enveloped by the grandeur of its surroundings, Lake Venado offers a serene retreat for those seeking solace amidst nature's embrace.
