In a groundbreaking achievement, BINI has made history by winning Best Asia Act at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs). The eight-member P-pop group—comprising of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena—beat out other notable nominees, including ILLIT, Sakurazaka46, Mahalini, and Masdo, to claim the prestigious award. The announcement came on November 11 via MTV EMA’s official social media, marking a major milestone in BINI’s rapid rise to international fame.
This victory is a significant moment not only for BINI but for the entire Filipino music scene. It’s the first time a Filipino artist or group has won in this category, making BINI a trailblazer for future Filipino acts aiming for global recognition.
A Win for Filipino Music
BINI’s win at the MTV EMAs is more than just a personal triumph—it’s a win for Filipino talent on the world stage. The group’s success is a testament to the growing influence of P-pop, as well as the global appeal of Filipino artists. While other Filipino stars like Sarah Geronimo and Moira Dela Torre were nominated in the past, no Filipino act had ever taken home the Best Asia Act award, making BINI’s victory even more significant.
The group took to social media to express their gratitude. “This honor means the world to us, seeing Filipino music shine on the global stage. Maraming salamat po (Thank you very much),” they shared, acknowledging the fans who supported them along the way. Their heartfelt thanks reflect the pivotal role their loyal fanbase played in helping them achieve this milestone.
BINI’s Rapid Rise in 2024
2024 has already been a banner year for BINI, with their viral hit song “Pantropiko” gaining millions of streams and widespread attention. As their popularity continues to soar, the group has enjoyed sold-out concerts, brand partnerships, and a growing presence on international platforms. This MTV EMA win is the latest chapter in their impressive journey, solidifying their status as one of the brightest acts in P-pop today.
