Ospital ng Malabon has received high marks in two major Department of Health (DOH) assessment programs, reinforcing its efforts to improve healthcare services and hospital operations for residents. The recognition has also prompted the Malabon City government to further strengthen its health programs as it continues investing in better medical care for Malabueños.
The city-run Level 1 hospital earned an 87.64 percent rating, equivalent to 4 Green Stars, under the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) conducted by the DOH Health Facility Development Bureau. It also secured a 94.625 percent "very satisfactory" rating during the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Program (IHOMP) validation, reflecting its compliance with national standards for hospital management and patient care.

Hospital Recognized for Quality and Sustainability
According to the city government, the latest ratings highlight OsMal's ongoing development into a healthcare institution that combines quality medical services with environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient practices.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval welcomed the recognition, saying it reflects the city's commitment to prioritizing public health.
“The DOH recognitions for OsMal only prove that the city government prioritizes the health of every Malabueño. They show how essential it is for us that every citizen remains healthy, protected from illness, and that their needs are addressed promptly,” Sandoval said.
She added that the local government remains committed to improving healthcare access and services for residents.
“Our constituents can count on us to further strengthen high-quality health programs and services for everyone,” the mayor added.
City Administrator Alexander Rosete also credited the achievement to the collective efforts of hospital personnel and the local government.
“The DOH recognition was the fruit of the collective efforts of the local government, the OsMal leadership and every doctor, nurse, healthcare worker, and staff member who serve our constituents day in and day out,” Rosete said.
He further emphasized the significance of the recognition beyond healthcare delivery.
“It shows that a local public hospital can achieve high standards of service quality while also advancing environmental protection and readiness for the challenges of climate change,” Rosete pointed out.
Meeting National Healthcare Standards
The DOH explained that the Green Viability Assessment serves as a national monitoring and diagnostic system that evaluates how hospitals incorporate environmental sustainability and climate resilience into their daily operations. With an overall score of 87.64 percent, OsMal earned the coveted 4 Green Stars, a recognition reserved for healthcare facilities demonstrating Good Practice in environmental stewardship.
Meanwhile, the hospital's 94.625 percent "very satisfactory" rating in the IHOMP validation reflects strong compliance with national benchmarks covering hospital governance, patient safety, infection prevention and control, quality healthcare delivery, and efficient resource management.
For Malabon residents, these recognitions provide added confidence that their local public hospital continues to improve both the quality and safety of its healthcare services.
